Is Retirement Biblical?

“And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “This applies to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall come to do duty in the service of the tent of meeting. And from the age of fifty years they shall withdraw (retire) from the duty of the service and serve no more. They minister to their brothers in the tent o f meeting by keeping guard, but they shall do no service. Thus shall you do to the Levites in assigning their duties.”” - Numbers 8:23-26

If you are looking to do a bible study on the subject of retirement, you are looking at the one scripture in the Bible that even mentions retirement. There are three things that are important to consider.

  • Retirement for a Christ-follower looks different than worldly retirement.

  • Your return on investment includes more than money.

  • “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” - 1 Corinthians 10:31
